Before the PC (Powder Coating) craze really caught on giving us a dedicated coating sub forum, I did these Lee 9mm TL356-124-2R Tumble Lube boolits up using some gloss black VHT spray paint back around November 2011.

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/picture.php?albumid=539&pictureid=4119

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/picture.php?albumid=539&pictureid=4170

They worked quite well in my TZ75 at typical pistol ranges. (25 yards or less) Accuracy and function were about the same as my standard 9mm tumble lube load. I didn't think it was worth the time and effort involved to make them though, compared to simply tumble lubing for me.

I got the idea to try a few Powder Coated boolits as well using Pro-Tec fishing jig powder paint thanks to some stuff that 357 Maximum had posted, and was trying at the time.

http://images.cabelas.com/is/image/cabelas/s7_311665_999_01?rgn=0,0,1003,767&scl=3.4863636363636363&fmt=jpeg&id=1isKtoCq0KM-uFb7IIHNxP

It was a bigger hassle for me than just plain old Tumble Lubing, but it definitely made a very hard, slippery, and durable coating. I chalked it up as a learning experience, and an interesting way to mark or color special boolits. It definitely was a fun experiment. After that I pretty much lost interest in powder coating my boolits.

There we go :)
This time of year, I like to see some color :)
Up here in MN, Snow has made everything outside my windows white.

Did you really cast one in, I dare say it, GOLD?
I am calling fowl, no fair bribing the judge!!!
Lobe groves and half checks are bad enough.

Geez, it doesn't look painted does it? No it's not, nothing at all was added to or put on the bullet metal. And no, I didn't promise the bullet to JonB! [smilie=s:

Well, the group would be one hole at any range fired.

That's got a lot to do with . . . "I only made one of those". Didn't shoot it, what if it was lost? Forever? Never to be found? Again! :veryconfu

SwedeNelson (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/member.php?221-SwedeNelson) can cast Purple colored boolits!

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/swedenelson/Linobullets001.jpg
The above image is the best pink/purple colored Linotype picture I've ever seen. I had always wondered why my printing metal alloys cast purple colored boolits. Figured it was some kind of lead alchemy voodoo.

Some of my foundry/Mono/Lino type alloys cast with that same pink/purple surface oxidization hue. It's hard to reproduce on film as nicely as the NOE picture shows however.

You can polish the color off with a paper towel, or tumble it off. I can recognize the alloy at a glance. It never seems to oxidize, or corrode and turn white like pure lead does over time, or when exposed to the elements. Needless to say if it isn't thinned out some, it's harder than heck too.

Rick cheats, his boolits are cast from gold ingots. That's how he cast those golden boolits. Maybe the reason why all of Cbrick's boolits look so perfect too.

How do they shoot for you? I never did group them on paper. I tried a 4759 load in my Ruger BH 30 Carbine and it was minute of CA ground squirrel and called it good.

They do good for me. I am not a professional, but they will do under 2" in a blackout when powder coated, and pushed beyond what I shoot jacketed at. VERY explosive. It will penetrate three water jugs at 100 yards but the third one looks like it was shot with a shotgun, and the first one is split in half and tossed to the side. My go to plinking bullet at the moment for cheap fun. Someday I will sit down and see if I can get MOA at least with one of my guns with it.

No fancy colours, no big heaps of selfmade boolits..
The only CC boolits Iīve tried was some Ares, commercial boolits.
Couldnīt for my life get them to shoot with any decent accuracy out of my Glock 35

Pure Excellence: Too purty to shoot.... I think a nice flat black...flat olive drab...and tan "Camo" would be appealing...I know I am working on it, I see three colors in play with your work...well done!
