Interested in loading for these two firearms of the same caliber and prefer one cast boolit for both. Can tailor separate loads for each but would prefer to have to purchase only one mould for a cast, gas checked boolit. Anyone have any experience in casting and reloading one or both of these? Does Lee make a gas checked 6-cavity mould for the .30 Carbine? Big Boomer

I dunno about the LEE, but rcbs makes a 32-098- rnfp that's a plain base that will work. [I have used it in the revolver and I know it feeds in the carbine]

and lyman makes a 4 cavity 311 sumthin that's about 120 grs it is a gas check
I just recently acquired one but haven't had a chance to try any boolits out just yet.

I have an old Lee 2-banger that throws a 120-gr RNGC that has been very accurate in my Carbine, over about 13 grs of something or other, 4227 I think. Feeds, shoots, what more could a guy ask - and cheap.

Lyman 311359 gas check. I use it in both GI carbine and Ruger SA. Accurate and feeds great in Carbine. For the revolver, there are several 30 cal light weight designs that will work fine but the Carbine can be picky.

I use the RCBS 115 grain gas check RN in both the GI carbine and the Ruger revolver. Different powder charges as the pistol loading I use will not cycle the rifle. I prefer to use the gas check (it is not totally necessary) and apply a slight taper crimp in both applications. The rifle loading will work well in the pistol, but the muzzle blast is excessive. There are a number of other choices for 30 carbine bullets and they all work well....round or pointy style designs by the major mold manufacturers feed more reliably especially in the rifle. You can also use 32-20 cases in the pistol. Keep an eye on case length (uniformity) and OAL. Several powders work well. Accuracy is good. LLS

I have found the old 311316 FNGC bullet works well in both.
Fed reliably in the last M1 Carbine I had
Used 2400 in old days. Now either 296 or 4227 works

Years ago I bought Lyman 311419 A gascheck mid 90 grain bullet with a rounded flat point. Seemed to feed in my carbine. Sold the carbine and later sold mould. Of course, regretted both sales. If you can find that mould I would grab it. Also should work good in 32 pistol. Selpaw

you cant beat the 311359 for both . feeds great in the 30 bn and is best I have used in the ruger. If you want a good hunting boolit, HP some .you can have a mold done if you want large lot ,but the drill press and 1/8in bit works good for a 100 or so

My BH liked 311410 so well I honchoed a group buy with MP to have it in 4 cav. I got two molds, both HP, one PB and one GC. I don't shoot this caliber in rifle but it should do as well as it does in the revolver.

I use NOE 311008 in the revolver. Look up Beagle's articles in Castpics. Tons of excellent info.

Thanks everyone for your input. MarkP, I have that mould. Plan on using it plus may go with some of the other suggestions. Can't have too many options! Big Boomer

I run a lee 311-100-2r sized to 309 13gr imr 4227 and a lee c309-120-r gc 12gr imr 4227 and h-110. I have a lot of carbines no problems with any of them with both boolits.
