G,day from Down Under

I have a Marlin Cowboy, 24" barrel and would like to see if it is possible to knock down the 500 meter Rams as used in Metallic Rifle Silhouette. But I want to do it without crossing the transsonic speed range. I want to stay sub sonic.I want to try and do it at about 1050 ft/sec. If I can launch this 310 or so pill at about this velocity, and actually hit the Ram, the momentum calculations say that there is a good chance it will go down. But I dont know whether the twist of the Marlin Cowboy is suitable for this. Also is there a suitable vernier type sight that will work with this. Thank you for any advice you can give.

cheers

Welcome Leadlauncher, to the madness...I have several Marlins 1894 , microgroove BBL , The heaviest boolit I use is the RD 265 GR....I'm sure you will get replies from several others that have used the +- 300 GR. The Marlins with the Microgroove rifling like FAT boolits. Mine like .434 size or a bit more.

Good luck with your rifle and casting :bigsmyl2:
