Hi guys,

I just read at another forum that lead with Zn could be used for slingshot ammo. This got me to thinking, since it is in essence just round pellets, would it be safe to use in shotguns?

I just received a #4 Buckshot mold and thought potentially my Zn WW could be set aside and used with that mold and future buckshot molds?

Thoughts!?!

Thanks for any/all input!

BS molds (at least the Lee ones) are normally very difficuilt to perfectly fill all the cavities with good lead. Zn melts at a higher temp and does not fill or pour nearly as well as lead. Getting all the BS cavities to fill is hard enough with lead. I do not know how much difficulty you will have with the much harder to use Zn.

You will need a very hot mold for starters! And your #4's will be somewhat lighter than normal lead shot.

Personally I would not do it. But if you do attempt it, let us know what you end up with.
