I managed to kill a doe this morning after what was starting out to be a uneventful deer season(not seeing a single animal till yesterday)
I shot her with my 45-70 shooting this boolit made of 25-1 alloy http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=46-420C-D.png, the shot was through the joint on the front shoulder destroying the heart and exiting midships the opposite side.At the shot the deer did the classic heart shot where she jumped in the air legs running and ran 40 yds and did the big bore angle dance where she ran in a circle at an angle before tipping over for good.I have seen this in deer before when I shot one with a 54 cal muzzleloader with REAL boolits. The blood trail was as though someone had splashed a bucket of blood down after her as she ran, unbelievable. This weekend was the opening of our gun deer season in WI.and it marks my 44th consecutive season.
This boolit delivers excellent accuracy out to 100 yds. probably further / that is where my testing concluded / easily getting consistent moa at that range.
I did not recover the boolit but what I could ascertain from the impact site it worked famously.

All of these success posts are getting me fired up for sure...Congrats! Still looking for my "first" with cast in a modern rifle this year.

Way to go Eagle. I have the same mould for my 45-70. Haven't shot it yet. I picked it for it's large meplat; reminds me of the Garrett Hammerheads that penetrate so well. I think it's going to make an excellent elk, moose and grizzly round. What load were you shooting and what was the velocity if you recall?

35 not sure of the charge of IMR 3031 I use for this boolit
my loads are at hunting camp and won't be back till Thursday
I had Tom make this mold up.He did a great job. Kills with a punch....Hoo chee mama

the charge is 47.0 gr of 3031 and the alloy is 20-1 not 25-1
I am thoroughly impressed with the way this boolit drops deer
I shot another on this morning again with this combo and the outcome was just as good as the first deer

Congratulations again Eagle...I am just itching to try this bullet out in my Ruger No.1. What rifle were you shooting it out of? Do you know what your velocity was? Not that it really matters, it kills well, just curious if it is in a comfort range and not one that makes snot bubbles and your eyes water. ;-)

White Eagle;

Nice looking bullet, what brand rifle were you shooting? I'm researching 420gr+ bullets for 1895 Marlins, and looking for designs that will feed well in them.

I have some 465gr. WFNs that are working well, 46gr BL-C2 @ 1350, but I haven't settled on my single bullet/single charge yet.

I am shooting them out of a Ruger #1
velocity I am not sure I never ran them across the screens
you all know how it is when you are in the moment you never feel the gun going off
off the bench though is another matter not that it is a mule or anything
accuracy is exceptional as well I have only tested them to 100 yds but I see them as a great performer beyond that

Just a calculated guess, but I am guessing that that boolit was moseying along after leaving the muzzle about 1700-1800 fps.

Nice going. And to even have the gun I always wanted is icing.
