So I inherited my uncles Ruger M77 tang safety .22-250 back in '99 when he passed away. Great shooter with J words. I've never ran cast though this rifle. I think it will be a good one to try. It has a 1 in 14 twist.

I'll be trying the Lee Bator boolit. My first attempt will go as follows.
Boolits cast from 3-1 WW/Lino for 16BHN
No gas checks, sized to .225" and a light coat of 45-45-10
All brass was sorted by headstamp and weight
Boolits were sorted by weight and weigh 50.6-50.7gr
Brass was trimmed to 1.900" WLR primers will be used. I'm thinking around 7gr of Redot or 700X to start for a light plinker. I'll ramp them up a bit when I use real lube and gas checks.
My only other attempts with 22 cast has been with a 1-10 .223 and my 221 Fireball. Mixed results. You all know how fussy these little pills can be. Not sure when I'll be able to go shoot them but I'll report back with results after I get out.
Any tips for loading cast in the .22-250 are welcome

What do you have for a neck expander?
I was suing a Lyman M die with good results but it wore down a bit and never really was quite large enough anyways. Bought an RCBS .224" expander and really like it. It’s one of my theories that proper neck tension and bullet deforming avoidance is key to 22 cast accuracy.

Never had any of the tribulations many seam to have getting 22 boolits to shoot. Always used at least a foundry 2:6 air cooled alloy and mostly oven heat treated 2:6 with about 1% tin added to get the Lyman 225646 nose groves to fill out every time and easily. WW and Lino blended 50/50 makes nice 22 boolits also. Just a warning. I learned right away how easy it is to over heat little 22 boolits in an oven to make them slump. Ruining hundreds in a flash. Have always used Felix lube home made with luck. Sizer is filled with Ben’s Red now so this winters boolits may all see that lube.

Don’t shoot 22-250 but have a 14 twist 222 Rem. It is plumb sweet for cast 22’s. Also have the Battor bullet. It’s a large size for a 14 twist so you’ll have to see how they stabilize running slow. I’ve never ran my 222 slower than 2350 fps and am currently loading it to a tad over 2400 fps with 14.0 grains of 5744 under the 60 grain finished weight Lyman 225646. It's loud enough and has enough muzzle blast that I stopped adding powder. So don't know how fast it would go and stay sub MOA at 100 yards. I like the way this 14 twist 222 shoots cast so well I’ve stopped loading any of my 223’s for cast. I bought the CZ in 222 specifically for a boolit shooter and it has panned out fantastic. Only thing I don’t like about the CZ 527 is having to stuff those single stack magazines all day long. Prefer a fixed box and just push em down or single load. But it does cycle without jamming as long as you full stroke it.

I just use 223 cast loads in mine, then I tweak things from there.
the boolit comes out of the barrel pretty close to the same velocity as it does in the smaller case.

Just noticed you posted no gas checks. Good luck with that.
Everything I've read here people end up with 22 rimfire velocities. Around 1200 fps. Which is fine for fifty yard work.

You may end up closer to 4.0 grains of 700x.
