Hi All.

I have a pre WW2 Walther PP that slugs to 0.3098" in the barrel.

I canīt reload to Ranch Dogs recomended COL at 0.915" with a boolit sized to 0.311" due to the tightness of the throat. With a sized 0.309" i can do it.

But .309 is a bit small and a shorter COL gives higher pressure and possible feeding issues due to rim lock.

Size to .310? open up my Lee .309 sizer?

Try .309 with wheelweight alloy. My PP is later production and can handle .311 bullets.121725

The boolit you use is the 70gr RD, right?
I have the 75gr with a different nose shape.
My PP would probably shoot the 70gr at .311 without problem too.

Sizing .309 to a barrel that is almost .310 (.3098") feel wrong.

My PP gives my a honest 1" group at 25 meters benchrested with Norma factory ammo FMJ. It is amazing!
My .22lr PP does the same with CCI standard. ( I love those guns!)

Targets shown were testing I was doing for Ranch Dog when bullet was in development, blocks marked 70 grains but actual weight 72 grains in wheelweights. Normally I shoot Accurate 31-087T at 0.95" OAL with 2grains of Bullseye and bullet sized .311" for my 1960s era former German police PPs.

I do believe You have the 70gr mold.
Total boolit lenght on the 70gr is .376 and the 75gr is .406.
This is according to RD sketches. (spelling?)
It should be easy to check.

Would be easy to check if I still had any or the mold, but I no longer do. I prefer the 87-grain bullet and traded it off.

I would either spring for a new .310 sizer or polish the one you have until your sized boolits are at least bore diameter. Going smaller can result in serious leading issues, especially if your alloy is hard, or you are water dropping or heat-treating your boolits.
I use the 314-75 sized .311 in my 32 ACP's but I only have a PPK/s .380, so I can not directly compare Walther to Walther.
However, If your lead is soft enough, you may still be able to shoot good groups without too much leading. You will want to run your loads on the warm side to obtain enough pressure to bump up the boolit to ensure obturation. Good luck.

Then i will polish out the .309 sizer since LEE donīt do them in .310.

I think rintinglen is right about boolit fit to bore.
Itīs better to do right.

Thanks.
