Bought a Lyman 45 today. Real nice shape. No dies. Paid $50. Too high?

Nope, if in good shape with any dies... you did well.

I paid 120 for a new 4500. 45% of the original price is awesome in my opinion. Get yourself an H&I die and start cranking.

Not too high. I have given 80 for nice ones and was happy about it. I even gave 105 for one this Spring that appeared to be NIB.

If you ever start thinking you overpaid and want your money back... take a pic and put it on here for 50 bucks and watch the fight!!!!!

The good thing about the 45's is that they will never ware out and will usually be going up in value. Nice buy.

Cheapest one I bought was 50 bucks, missing the original handle. Was glad to get it and the three others since. Most I paid was $80. They aren't making any more of them so the price is what people are willing to pay.

After posting this question I looked on Fleabay. The starting prices were $25 - 30. One that still had 15 hrs. to go had 20 bids and was up to $102. Surprised me. I have a 450 but wanted one to be set up with my most often used die. The handle is much longer on the 45, I was wondering if that might lessen the pull needed? I have some rotary cuff problems and after sizing a few hundred it gets mighty sore.
