Thanks folks. Long time reader deciding to finally get started. I learned about contender barrels and the throat or lack of. My first attempt had this boolit seated to the crimp groove. At 50 yds. several different starting loads were around 4 of 5 inches. They were all sized at .309. My barrel has a nice Burris 10 power scope on it since I can't see iron sights any more. Looked in the Lyman manual and they mentioned Unique would be a good starting powder. I seated the boollitet out as far as I could and still chamber. I ran half the loads through a Lee .309 then lubed. The other half went through my RCBS sizer. All 6 loads were in one ragged hole. No difference between the Lee and straight my RCBS sizer. So one less step. That is about as good as I can shoot. The Chrony said between 1000 to 1140. With 50-50 they weigh 120 bare. I have been getting too many rejects when ladle casting. Last night I cast up a pile as I need more to test. I turned the temp down on the Pro and went as fast as I could go. A nice pile pretty quick. Not sure what the actual temp was since I dropped the Lyman. I sorted out 11 rejects. They usually go back in the pot. I saved them to try them out next time just to see if what I'm tossing is bad or not. Last and most important I wanted to thank the forum and all the members that are so willing to give us newbys a head start. Thanks to all, Mike

Appreciate the thanks. I have had excellent luck with 3.5 to 3.9 grains of Red Dot pushing a 115 grain cast boolit in my 32-20 rifles and pistols.

I shoot a TC 32/20-10". This was my IHSMA Field Pistol class gun. I used an RCBS 7.62 SP, 130 grains sized to .310 diameter, Remington brass trimmed to 1.28", Federal primers and A1680 powder. This load is accurate in my gun. The 32/20 is a fun caliber, with a loud bark.

I also have a T/C 10" 32-20 barrel and it is far and away my favorite pistol barrel. With open sights no coyote is safe if he is within 150 yards and stands still long enough for my eyes to focus. My barrel likes my Lee 113 gr RF-GC boolits stepping out at about 1350 FPS using about 9.4 gr of 2400. I size to 308 because that barrel likes it but each barrel seems to have its own personality.
