My .45 Vaquero is leaded pretty bad, I seem to remember reading a real good thread about lead removal and using a chore boy wrapped around an old bore brush ? didn't find it with the search feature. Can some of you chime in on the quickest and safest way that you have found to remove leading, thanks.

In case you don't find it---it seems to me that Chore Boy works best dry.

I've used Chore Boy on lots of leaded guns. Works great. Go dry at first but if you want to polish a bit add some J-B paste. Follow up with drying the bore and then give it a good scrub with lead removal cloth. It contains jewelers rouge and will finish the clean and polish the bore further.

I like to keep some loads that dont lead handy when I am "experimenting" and might possibly lead my barrel. I have shot all the lead out of a leaded barrel with 1 cylinder of "good" loads. The chore boy does work very good also but more work.

is this true? some one told me to run a few jacketed bullets down the barell after shooting the lead ones. will shooting 5 jacketed bullets take the lead out of a barell?? also some one told me to take steel wool and wrap around a "brush" and that will work... now i have no clue so i thought id ask. -chris

I have to ask if the bore and throats have been slugged and the throats opened to the proper size? I am assuming the throats are too small to cause all that leading.
I have shot thousands and thousands of all kinds of loads through my Vaquero without more then a few strands of lead that come out with a patch, after I reamed it.
Or are you shooting those pure lead store bought boolits?
