I want to try casting a 45 cal bullet for my inlines, but my funds are tight [i've retired].
I will have to buy a Lee mould, but i don't know which one to try? I am looking at the Lee-452-255 RF,the Lee-452-230 TC or Lee-452-300 RF ?
I plan on using pure or almost pure lead and Harvester sabots. These will be for deer hunting, with a CVA Wolf inlines.
Any ideas!
If i can use pure lead, will they cast too small in Dia?

They should be fine as the factory sabots use a 0.451" bullets. I did not have and luck using cast I made. Other have had great luck. I just never got around to putting much effort into it as I had others that shot really well.

I shot a couple thousand cast Real and Maxi balls threw an early Beartooth magmun, for runner of the Wolf. they shot great. all of my saboted smooth for cast I size at .452 not .451, unless larger is need for tight fit.

I would stick with the RF 300 gr mold is you buy. should be able to shot unsized in sabots.

I have been using a 429 - 255 gr swc for years with sabots in my 50 cal muzzleloaders for elk. The effects on elk are amazing. A 45 cal of the same weight in a sabot should work just as well. My load is 78 gr of Goex 3F.
