I was at a gunshow and saw an Ideal 311 8 (not 31108 or 311008) single cavity bullet mould on a table. It was reasonably priced. There was a little light surface rust on the outside of the mould. There was a little more rust and light pitting on one side (probably the side down when it was stored) However, the cavity was in good shape and the two halves closed tightly. I bought it.

When I got home, I took it apart for cleaning and fitting like I do with all my moulds, new or old. It was then I saw the matching numbers on each side. They were 666. Now I know the Devil shoots a 32-20. Or did.

What Would Satan Shoot? I would tend to think the guy starring in Fantasia's Night on Bald Mountain would pack something a little more apocalyptic than a .32-20. Kinda lacking in the fire and brimstone department. . .

You sure you weren't holding it upside down and it's really 999?

One day I was at the local guitar shop playing folk music with the owner (Stephen Bennett), when a lady walked in with a little girl in tow. She said she wanted to buy an electric guitar for her son for Christmas, but didn't want anything expensive. Steve got down a solid body guitar, a small amp, a beginners book, and a pick, and rang it up for her. It came to $76.66. The lady turned white and gasped, "the mark of the beast!" she exclaimed. She said to cancel the sale. Steve offered to give her the pick, making the sale $76.61. The little girl cried out "Oh Momma. Not again!" I choked suppressing my laugh. :-)

Take care, Tom
