A friend's son bought a house from a widow, seems the old boy was an avid reloader. I'm sure some stuff got sold, but my friend brought me a huge pile of stuff today. Haven't nearly inventoried it yet, but there's things like several cans of powder (love those $11.95 price tags), over 2500 primers, SP, LP, and LR, 2 unopened cans of holy black FFFg, vibratory cleaner, Lyman trimmer, tons of .44Mag brass, huge box of assorted fired brass, and more .44 bullets than I could ever use. I shoot cast anyway so will probably list those later. Several boxes of other caliber bullets that I'll probably use, even some cast .38 caliber. Some of those powder cans are unopened. Life is good. Nice windfall. Is that a 1911 slide I see peeking out of the box with the trimmer on top?

Good windfall but kind of poignant too. All that is left of a lot of good times the previous owner had. I always get a little sad when I see a pile of someone's "gun stuff" for sale after they have passed.

David, yes it is. Has barrel, no link, no FP or extractor, finish don't look purty but I need to apply a little magic to it to really know. I'll prolly sell it after I clean it up and determine if it's worth anything. Also got a flash hider off of something .30 cal, I'll do a little research and figure out what. Trinkets, treasures, and trash. GW

Buy you a frame and build you a 1911 not that hard

As you go through them, please post pictures of your findings. Remember, one persons trash is another's trinket or treasure.

Thanks.

There was 2 boxes of new 30/40 brass, along with 3 boxes of reloads dated '82. Figured great, I shoot a 30/40AI. Started pulling the loaded ones, first one the whole neck cracked off the case so I wrote off the whole bunch of cases, just saved the powder (4350) and put it back in the can that came with the pile. I'll put the bullets in the pot and save the lead, 60 rounds worth of 165 grainers. I cleaned up the slide, the blueing is thin but no pits, barrel has no link, somebody will want it, I've got too many other projects. GW
