My step brother Jimmy passed away. His funeral was yesterday, and it was different than any I have been too so far. He LOVED cowboy action shooting, and had been involved in it for 20 or so years. Lots of his shooting buddies attended, dressed up in their CASS getup. It was a standing room only event. Many took turns coming up to talk about Jimmy, and there were lots of tales and funny stories told. First funeral I have ever attended where everyone got at least a couple of good laughs! He was in a pinewood coffin, wearing his costume, with his hat in one hand, and his gun in the other. Just the way he would have wanted it.

Sounds like he lived a good life, enjoyed shooting and was well respected. A guy can't expect too much more out of life than that. I'm sorry for your loss. I'll bet he is shooting right now in heavin.

I hope he went peacefully and I'm glad he made so many friends before he passed. That says a lot about him.

I am sorry for your loss. Its not unusuall here to see the old farmers in bib overhauls or jeans. Most you wouldnt recgognize in a suit since they never wore one. At one funneral the farmers Tractor was parked along side the cemetary. I truly believe a persons life should be celebrated when they pass away and thier accomplishments noted, Friends and family with stories and examples of thier accomplishments only reinforce a good life.

That's the way a funeral should be, a celebration of the life of the departed. Sorry for your loss.

Sounds like the perfect send-off for him. All a man can ask is that he be loved, respected and liked and it sounds like he had all three! No better legacy than a life well lived.
