Quick question, Have checked the forum archives, could not find. When do you size and lube a cast boolit? (I do not panlube) Have been told from now to 2 weeks. I cast the 535 gr for my 45-70 and 250 gr for the Colt. (cowboy) the lead is 30-1. (I have at times went to 35-1) Thanks

With a straight Pb/Sn alloy (i.e. no Sb) it shouldn't matter much when you size. Since your not pan lubing your using a lubrisizer and a Pb/Sn should size easily.

Anytime at all with that alloy. Even years will not matter.

I cast the bullets and size and lube them when they are needed. It may be hours, weeks, months or years. It does not matter.

I'd wait at least long enough for them to cool. Easier on the fingers and the lube won't melt off.

Seriously as mentioned there isn't any antimony in your alloy so need to "age".

I'm with Char-Gar on this one. I have gone from next day to about 3 years with 50/50 Pb & WW (clip on). Pistol boolits, though.

I usually cast in the morning and size in the afternoon.

A couple years ago I sized some hard-ball alloy bullets several months after casting and it was a real PITA. For me its easier to size and stash; plus when I need them they're ready to go.

If you can pick them up without burning your fingers, they are ready to size and lube.
