There is no better web-site with free, public domain e-books than ManyBooks dot net, and I came across a reference to one author, B. M Bower who wrote some wonderful western stories. Born Bertha Muzzy in 1871, she published her stories under her married names, as B. M. Bower, and B. M. Sinclair, several of which were used for movie screenplays. Here is the Wikipedia article about her: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._M._Bower

Here is the ManyBooks page with her stories: http://manybooks.net/authors/bowerbm.html

I forget where I read it, but someone referenced her story collection "The Happy Family", 1910, with the sub-title: "The Ananias of the Cow Camp", so I just couldn't resist that. So far I've read the afore mentioned "Happy Family," and "Chip, of the Flying U."

Highly recommended,
Mark http://www.theboxotruth.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_idea.gif

Thank you. Not only do I still like Westerns, but my wife's maiden name is Muzzy. She'll get a kick out of this.

I've downloaded probably 3000 books from there. I like many of the older books, with the earlier writing style, and there are a pile of good old hunting books in there if you can track them down.

Absolutely. You are given the choice of which format you want to download.

Any books on the manybooks site similar to Man Eaters Of Tsavo and Man Eaters of Kumaon? Both were great reads.

I downloaded them from somewhere, not sure if it was Manybooks. When looking for a specific book, enter the title in Google search, with free download added on. YOu can find lots of obscure books that way.
