I'm sure this has been covered but I got some questions. Those who have it, do you find that it really serves purposes all its own or is it just a culmination of info you could get otherwise by looking around?
I notice different versions. Does this mean it needs to talk to the net frequently for updates? That would be troublesome for this boy on dial up... Any feed back please

PS things like ACCURATE pressure calculations would be important. And is it so leaning toward J stuff that its almost a casters waste?

I'm watching this question too. I hope someone can add some education.

I have Load From a Disk. It is not as sophisticated as Quickload.

You can make custom bullet profiles. I have added two for the 375 H&H Magnum. I don't remember if it can differentiate between jacketed and cast.

QL takes into account, the type of bullet and the application. The starting pressure for each platform is different and user adjustable.

LFAD is a basic program and is a third less money than QL. QL is better than LFAD in the lead boolit aspects and is very sophisiticated. I've been using it for several months and am still mind boggled. LFAD is more straight forward in that it is built for the average shooter whereas QL is built for a computer genius.

Like I said, I own both and will keep both.

I have never updated my program at all.

I have had LFAD for about eight months now .. When I first got it , I thought it was a rip off , but the more I use it , the more I like it ..
It has a fairly large boolit data base , as well as standard cartridge cases ..
I like the custom cases where you can design your own . We have been toying with some wildcats that will soon be in progress , and LFAD was instrumental in the case design , of modifying an existing case ..
The pressures you get with the loads are all high at 50K , but if you work with an existing case ( we're using the 8x68S , which operates around 58k~ ) , then you jus look at the high pressures around the case max and you know you're OK , more or less , the pressure data is based on Powley , and I have compared the pressures with other Powley's I have and they're all pretty close to one another ..

The velocities I get from my Lott are within reason , considering it is a "what if" program ..

Some , like the Lott and 480 Ruger , tell you the load ratio is outta whack , with a big red warning , but I jus look over it and keep going ..

As far as I know it is a windows only platform .. $65 is a much easier pill to swallow than almost $200 .. And it is easier to use ..

It has a firearms database where you can put the information on your guns in there , and , when you build a load , you can pull that one up and go with it ..

It has casts in it's database , so , I'm sure it sees a difference , you can also add bullets to the database ..
