Where's the sweet spot and what accuracy should I expect at these velocities? I know every rifle is a universe unto itself, just looking for a ballpark.
Thanks,
Mick

Try 16 grains as a start. I have a pre-microgroove Marlin 30-30 that shoots that boolit well.

You may also have luck adding a 3/4 grain of Dacron filler to that load. It really shrank the groups for me.

I tried all the 4759 loads listed as best and although I love the powder in other guns, I did not find it best in the 30-30. 3031 and 4895 have proven best for my Marlin.
I also found my rifle likes heavier boolits and made a mold that gives a boolit of 187 gr that has shot to 5/16" at 100 yards. Average is under 1" all day.

6 grns of red dot with that boolit is a sweet plinking load. No gas check needed.

Agree with 44Man on 4759 in 30-30. Never had great results with it in that cal. Also had good luck with med loads with 14-16 gr of 2400 under 150 grain blts.

I have to agree that 4759 isn't the best powder I've come across for reduced 30-30 loads. I get better results with Unique, Green Dot, and 2400.

A lot of good info on the "green dot for cast" thread. Also Cat Sneeze or Mouse Fart loads but I prefer more speed. +1 on Green Dot. Herco also.

I've already got a light Red Dot load for the 30-30.
I was hoping to get more velocity from 4759. I will explore the recommend charge weights and see where it leads.
Thanks for the input guys!
