Does anyone make .45 Colt brass marked +P?

I have purchased 2500 45 ACP cases and not a one has +P on it.
I would think that a +P designation refers to the pressure that a cartridge will produce.

I do remember something about military brass being a heavier gage brass.

Only loaded ammo would have a +P headstamp. The brass is all the same, the Pressure of the ammo is higher. So, they mark it +P.

I have shortened 100 454 cases to use when I want +P 45 colt loads in the Black Hawlk

Not exactly sure how much less case capasity I get
But I do know if you load the standard 45 Colt case and my shortened cases
The shortened cases produce a higher velosity

John Linebaugh has a website with articles on the loading of 44 45 475 cartridges in rugers. He had pressure testing done for 45 clt loads, Check the facts he has there. You will be suprised what the old 45 colt will do. The limitation with the 45 colt is not the brass, but the gun!

IF MY 454 WON'T STOP IT MAYBE I NEED A RIFLE!

Thing is the Rugers have sloppy chambers and you dont want to go as "warm" as in a custom tight chamber gun. With my standard BH my poor ole wrist gives up before I get that far anyhow:(

To my thinking? NO

I load a lot of 45C for CAS, have many different brands of brass and have not seen any marked +P.

There are to many old colt SA and there clones for the ammo manufractures to load +P 45C.

Just my 2¢

The short answer to your question is "NO". The only cases that will have a +P headstamp are those used in cartridges that have a +P SAAMI designation. The only SAAMI designated +P rounds are .38 Special, .38 Super, 9mm, and .45 Auto, if my memory serves.

With all of the modern guns chambered in .45 Colt and .44 Special, for that matter, one wonders why the industry never came up with +P versions of those two cartridges. But the fact is that they haven't.

The whole idea is to keep my rifle rounds from getting into an SAA.

Use different case markings for different applications, and as well put a note into the box of loaded rounds for the destined gun in case (literally) you forget. ... felix

Have you considered loading the rifle rounds in nickel plated stuff and the pistol stuff in brass? Or vice versa?

I tried to do what you are doing with different levels of loads but finally gave up and loaded for the least common denominator. In 45 Long Colt that meant original level loads for me.

260 grains @ 900 fps from a revolver was plenty. Full through and through on deer. I couldn't think of why I needed more.

Good luck.

That's what I do - the "hot" stuff goes in the nickel. You pretty much have to do something like this, as you won't find a single bullet and load that will shoot safely and satisfactorily in handgun and rifle.

I only loaded keith type boolits to safe Modern Colt levels and the Rf for Ruger level loads and this worked well for me until the Colt wannabe went away. Starline lists .38. 9mm, 45auto etc +P brass ans a couple others but only the ones with Saami proofs as Mack Heath stated.
