We had an airshow in the valley yesterday, I took my BIG lens and got some great pics
of some of Americas finest.

I have an interesting lil story.
I got a Thunderbirds poster and had all the pilots sign it for me.
While I was waiting I noticed one pilot #5 was from El Campo Tx. Not very far from where I grew up. I talked to him a bit and noticed that his aircraft number on his uniform was upside down. I asked why that was, and he told me because he did the majority of the show inverted.

Good photos. What camera and lens did you use?

the camera is an Olympus E5 DSLR and the lens was a old Tamron 300mm f2.8 -manual focus and all.
quite a nice piece although at near 8 pounds it is a work out :D

Well done - you have a good eye.

Did they have a static display as well?

there were static displays and ground events, but I refused to pay 25 dollars for entry into a crowded, over priced venue.
My buddies house is 200 yards north, of the north end of the runway ( he lives on Runway Road :) ) so we set up in his pasture
Best seats in the house :D

Excellent photographs.

The Air Force Thunderbirds and the Navy Blue Angels are well worth the price of an airshow's admission.

The Thunderbirds did an airshow up here about a month and a half ago or so. We are putting a new roof on a large V&W repair shop and their flight path for the low level high speed passes were right over our roof job so all their practice runs were less than 75' feet above us, about 4-500 mph and banking at 80-90 degrees and greater. They could obviously see us on the roof working and the lead pilot would flip over way past 90 degrees and we could see into his cockpit looking at his legs, arms, etc and he would give us a high five on each pass. A couple other pilots were also giving us the highlights on each pass. We were all cheering and jumping around for two days high fiving and waving back at them. Sadly we weren't allowed to work on the roof during the air show due to safety concerns but that's understandable. We were just glad to be able to see them so close during the practice runs.

Jim, Great pics! Thanks for sharing.
Blanco, also note the "5" on the #5 aircraft is also upside down, same reason. You can see it clearly in the 10th and 17th pictures.
