Bought 500 brass for .30 Remington rimless about 10 years ago. Used it to make .32 Remington, feeding a Model 81 and a couple of 141's. No problems. Then I ran across a Model 8 and a 141 in .30 Rem, so I got the dies and ordered another 100 brass. (When things like that were available, 6 years ago.)
I took a notion to try a load with a SAECO # 316 150gr. FPGC and 17 gr. 2400 in all small .30's, such as .30-30, .30 Remington Rimless, .303 Savage. I loaded up 5 rounds for each of my rifles, and proceeded to the range first with the .30 Remington Model 8 and Model 141. The load grouped excellently, 1 1/2 " in the scoped 141, 3 " in the M8 w/peep & bead sights, functioned the action, but all cases from both rifles have cracked shoulders and are junk!
Moral - don't assume all new brass is OK. I annealed the rest of the new 100 cases, and am annealing the remainder of the 500 to be on the safe side.
When I get back to the original experiment to see if I have a 150 gr. go-to load for all the rifles, I'll extend this thread.

Remington has not done a very good job making .30 Remington brass. I have not had issues with the annealing yet, but it doesn't surprise me. Painful because it is hard to get .30 Rem brass these days. It can happen with any brand. I recently had the same thing happen with a box of Lapua 7.62x54r.

I would box them up, and send them back to Remington.

Only if I had another choice. If the only game in town is crooked, you have to put up with it if you want to play. Annealing 80 cases or watching 3 reruns of American Pickers--I know which I'd prefer. I had the same issue with 500 CCI 38 Special cases 20 odd years ago. I just shot them, threw out the splits (50%+) and reloaded the remainder until they died. IIRC, none lasted past the 4th reloading. Pity I didn't have the knowledge I have acquired here then--I might still be using some of those cases.
Right now, I'm holding off on buying a Remington Model 8 for sale because I can't find brass for 35 Remington. 100 cases that I could finagle into usefulness would change my mind.

Waksupi - with the turmoil in the ownership of gun companies, I would not know where to send them. Anyway, the annealing did the trick, and was easy - hold the neck - shoulder in the flame of a propane torch for a four-count, then quench in a gallon can of water. The heat is just beginning to be felt in the base. It would be harder to do this with pistol cases. I think the factory anneal was set too short, since the cracks were in the shoulder and not in the neck.

It can happen with any brandNot with Privi Partizan! Their base is perfectly annealed and one can see the proper coloration!
