I remember ole' Hardin. He had an automatic pistol chambered in .22 Hornet with pewter boolits traveling at 4567 ft/sec out of a 2" barrel, or something. Claimed that he could hold off any attack with it. He proved it out/practiced with it by shooting everybody's dog he found running loose. He'd reply to his own posts thirty or forty times while the rest of the Internet held its collective breath in awestruck silence.

Actually, I assumed he was out when I read the posts of one "bannor" on this site. He has the same style of writing and the same self-effacing attempts to educate the ignorant and impress the experts that Hardin did. Who says "prison changes people?"

If memory serves, Hardin was all about handguns and silencers. Can't recall any posts on rifles of any kind; probably the cyclic rate of fire was too low for him. I recall that his common-law girlfriend ratted him out because he had a houseful of suppressors, Auto Sears and other stuff like that.

Many of his posts started with a question for the rest of the Forum. It was always something like, "OK, you wake up in the middle of the night and there are 20 guys coming into the bedroom, all armed to the teeth. What do you do?" Believe me, he knew what to do. And explained it at length. A lot of LEO's tried to inject a modicum of sanity into these scenarios, but Hardin would have none of that.

That Tom Cruise Jack Reacher movie of a couple years back reminded me of a lot of his posts. There must have been 10 scenes in the movie where Jack is cornered by a biker gang, a street gang, a bunch of narcotraficantes, a guerrilla insertion team, or a squad of assassins wearing suits, sunglasses and earwigs. They all start coming for him and Jack always says, "You really want to do this?" Yup, they do, and a pile of dismembered, smoking corpses is all that's left of them by the time Jack is done.

That was Hardin, at least in his own mind.
