There were a few firsts today:

1) I shot my first reloads I've ever made (223 and 30-06).

2) My son shot the evil black gun for the first time today.

3) Did I mention that the one shot he took was with his first reload?

Man it feels good to share something like that with my mini me. I just love that kid.

Special times. Congratulations. It's wonderful being a Dad.

Wonderful. He sees you learning and experimenting and studying and insisting on safety and those become lifetime habits for him, too.

Congrats to you both. Keep it up as much and for as long as you can. You will be rewarded several times over.

Thanks guys.

My daughter also made a 223 reload but she wasn't feeling well (and I think a little afraid of the evil black gun) do she didn't shoot hers. She did tell me last night that she wants to shoot hers next time we go out and that she was afraid of the recoil until she spoke to her brother about his experience.

My better half even got in on the shooting reloads action (223), but she still says she doesn't want anything to do with the 30-06 until I can dial it back safely.

John - I completely agree.

A day you will both remember for a long time. Congrats.

I had him write an "A" on the base of the brass and also on the bullet (his name's Alex). Once he shot the round we found his brass and we put it back in the Ziploc bag that has all the reloading information on it. Since my wife is a very crafty person she's going to make something to put it in so that he will always have that. My daughter will get the same thing as soon as she shoots hers.
