New reloading kit for 22LR

If this has been discussed before, I'd appreciate the link to the thread as my searching didn't locate it. If not, I'd like to know folks thoughts on this.

They do not mention powder measure, type, or anything of that nature. I've contacted the company directly to find out what they suggest. I also want to know what the priming compound is that they are using, just for my chemist curiosity.

The bullet molds are rebated, with a 25gr and a 38gr variety, and a neat crimping tool too.

Has anyone tried this kit yet?

Interesting. Wonder where you get the priming mixture, and what propellants are used.

Website is not very open on those topics. Wouldn't mind being able to reload 22LR, as long as it doesn't involve quantifies of unobtainium.

I would not reload them to replace buying .22 LR when they are available but to reload them if .22 LR production stopped.

For Priming compound they use either compound out of muzzleloader caps or the tips of strike anywhere matches. ( I watched their video on how to do it)

Has anyone bought one of these kits? Would like to know what smokeless powders they have had success using.

What powders ? I emailed them the same question and was told IMR PB, 700x, 4765,7625 Hodgdon international clays red dot, green dot plus other they list in their printed material. While this project is intriguing it is also VERY labor intensive. Need a different priming compound source that grinding up strike anywhere matches and disassembling ML caps.

Well, I'm not going to sit around cutting up matches. Does anyone know if Tannerite is sensitive enough to use as a primer?

I think they are using "Snap Gun Caps", which I've seen used before for making your own BP caps. Looks good, but kind of pricey.

I do not care for the boolits they cast. This may involve some re-engineering to make it work for me.

I read long ago the priming compound is spun in with a $10,000 machine. Imagine the cost today! I don't think I want to fool with primers or take compound out of them, they still cost a lot. Not going to grind match tips either, needs to be done wet to be safe. The stuff is spun in wet too.

Also, it looks like they don't do anything to take the previous strike out of the end of the case, so I wonder what the effects.

I've reloaded 22RF since May of 1990. I do it by pulling bullets from new cases and breech seating my own bullets in the barrel, ahead of the case.

I used bullets ranging from 44 to 50 gr and my powder charges ran from 1.5 gr B'eye to 2.0 gr of Unique. The factory powder in CCI and Federal ammo, looks simular to Winchester 231 powder and most factory charges run close to 2.0 gr. I also tried 231 but, for me, it burnt dirty and for that reason, I stopped using it. I also tried AA #2 but, it seemed to burn to fast in my case. My best all a round accuracy was with 1.5 gr B'eye.

I have been able to get 1400+ fps with a 48 gr bullet, using Unique but, I'm a match shooter and it wasn't accurate enough to use for that purpose.
