I have some ingots that were my dad's from the '50s. He stamped some Lead/Tin 10/1. Also some ingots are marked "block tin". Others are marked Lead/Tin 2/1. I wonder if the 2/1 should have been 20/1. He is no longer living, so I can't ask. Isn't 10/1 pretty hard for casting? I have about 30# of the 10/1 and 15-20# of block tin. I am just looking for some guidance here. I also have a box of what must be at least 500 cast, lubed, and gas checked 311413's that dad cast, sized and lubed in late '50s or early 60's. Can these be loaded OK? Is the lube too old. It is black (probably Lyman).

Thanks,

if the lube has some squish to it it's still okay.
the block tin is just that,,,, TIN, straight tin,, probably from an old organ pipe.
10-1 alloy is what LEE and RCBS uses to spec their molds and more specifically rcbs rifle molds.
if he had a black powder rifle or shot a revolver much the 2/1 could easily be 20-1 [and would have a BHN of about 12-13 when freshly cast]
anyway if it IS 2/1 tin to lead it should still be quite shiny and will crack and pop loudly when bent.
it will also be very hard [airc BHN of about 30]

I am thinking of selling the above reference metals. How can I locate a local lab to get an analysis of contents? I trust my dad's markings, but will buyers? These may be dumb questions, just trying to be forthright.

There are a couple members that provide that service for a minimal (lead) fee.
