Got a Lyman 429421 250gr Keith two hole mold that is dropping 260gr bullets with WW lead.

Making life difficult for finding a good 44 Special load.

Anyone have a good load for a 260gr 44 Special?

Only load I can come close to is a 267gr load with some weird European powder.

The mould is designed for Lyman #2 alloy. Your WW lead has a higher % of lead and lower %s of antimony and tin in it which is why your bullets cast out heavier. Cut whatever max 44 SPL load with the 245 - 250 gr 429421 you want to use by 5% and work up to that or make up some Lyman #2 alloy.

Ten more grains, but the same bearing surface. . .I seriously doubt the earth is going to open up and swallow you whole. Go with the same starting charge, an consider the max charge maybe 5% lighter, like Larry says.

Totally agree with the above posts, you don't have a problem, don't create one.

I'm loading the same Boolit with 10.8hrs of Unique or 6.5 bullseye I'm shooting a 12"TC Encore

Ditto: I use 5.5-6.0 gr of W231 in my Specials with the same boolit, which runs between 240 and 260 gr depending on which HP or solid I cast.

I have heard that 7.5 gr of Unique works pretty well also.

Lyman molds can be that way. My 452651 is supposed to be 325 gr but drops at 347 gr with straight WW's. It shoots best with the same charge of 296 I use with the 335 LBT, 21.5 gr.
I gave up long ago worrying about a little weight difference since I don't load to max anyway. Cast is very forgiving.
