View Full Version : Musings on the lowly Top Punch (Lyman vs. RCBS)

As part of my deviant plans for a Redding Neck bushing, I czeched a Lyman and RCBS Top Punch. They are similar, with the sole difference being the center web thickness. Lyman is .120" thick, RCBS is .156" thick.

The stems on both mic'd .264 (held very close) with the stem height being @ .430". Both brands have the nose punch end being @.350" long, with the center web diameter of .500" (RCBS) and .499" (Lyman) being darned near the same. Methinks the RCBS center web has to be bigger to accommodate the TP number, nothing more....

Lyman TP OAL is @.908 high, RCBS TP is @ .942 high. Again, it appears the center web thickness is the only significant difference between them...
