Midway has Hornady .45 caliber gas checks for $32/k. They have Lyman, same product, for $10 more/K. Is there a big difference in quality?

Jim, the current wisdom has it that Lyman GCs are no more than rebadged Hornadys at a higher price. This should simplify your decision. :-D

The only Lyman gas checks I use are the 41 cal. and they aren't making them any more. Everything else gets Hornady. At least I can find them locally, and save the shipping.

My understanding is thwy are both produced the same place. My blood boils every time I see the price of gas checks. I realize the price of copper has gone up but I'm not sure how a $2 rise in cost of materials justifies a $15 increase in retail.

All good points. I just remind myself that my boolits don't cost me nuttin', my powder is cheap and brass is on the ground every time I go to the range. That helps me to understand that 3.2 cents for a check, 2.5 cents for a primer and .01 cents for a powder charge is pretty cheap for a shot compared to factory ammo.
