Just a hello from a old caster

I've been a lurking for a while and this seems to be a informative and friendly place to spend a few hours conversing (shooting the bull) and learning stuff about some of my favorite subjects.Old guns, black powder accurate target rifles and the alchemy required to make the perfect boolit. Hi Teddo,

Since your post says hello from an old caster I assume you have been at this a while. You probably have lots of knowledge to share. I have been reloading for decades but never started casting until about a year or so ago. I have learned lots from the people here!

Thanks to the help of many here I went from never having cast a bullet before to casting, powder coating, loading and shooting thousands of rounds over the past year.

yup, the only bad thing about this forum, is that there is so much going on, you will run across something that you were thinking of about thirty years ago, it gets back in your brain, and BANG, you go and start reliving the old wants and needs while you are trying to keep up with what you were planning to do in the first place.

Geese guys, thanks for the hardy welcome.Sorry I got a little lost and finaly found my orignal post

Just a little bio.Well I'm not young anymore but not ancient as yet (66) I've been loading sense probably 59 or 60 and casting from the eighties.I'm a graduate from the gunsmith school Colorado School Of Trades and my second job or hobby as of late has always been gunsmithing. Learned most of what I know about casting and a lot of other stuff from my best friend, shooting partner and mentor Jim Bell (now deceased). You might know of Jim by his reputation he was the owner of Lachmiller engineering and later the manager of plant operations of R.C.B.S. truly a very knowledgeable guy and a great teacher. if you are a little bit on the older side he was the guy who shot the Master lock back in the seventies.

Other hobbies are classic car restoration, camping, fishing, car shows and I'm a gun collector, varmint shooter and a restorer of nineteen century American and British single shot target rifles among others.

Jim Bell as far as I know (and I would have been told by him I'm sure) had nothing to do with B.E.L.L. Labs but he did own the Hollywood gun shop back in the early days and a couple shot towers. He was the guru of lead and I was lucky he took an interest in teaching me some of what he knew.

As far as fishing mostly trout. I have a summer place on Eagle Lake on the Eastern side of California and If we weren't in a drought I probably would be up there now either shooting varmints or fishing.

Tree killer I see your from Red Bluff, fairly close to me. I have never shot at the Red Bluff range, is it the one off the road to Manton (hwy 36 ) and is it still open? when I shot cowboy action I was called Doc Undertaker but the handle that stuck from my friends was Mr. Magoo because of all the eye troubles I have had in the past. If you were ever in the high power game we might have shot against each other some time in the past i traveled all over to play that game.
