I've got a 226 and ppq 9mm that both slugged at .356. I have a lee .358 sizing die and plan to powder coat.

I know normally you size 1 thousands over. Is .358 too big?

How round are those .358?

Make some dummies and look if they feed / fit the chamber.

And if you want to PC, then you add normally .001, so, yes, probably too big.

With both of your pistols being auto loaders and the bbls are easily removed you have the opportunity to slug from the proper end of the bbl. The chamber end and slug the throat.

If final size chambers freely, I would not be concerned with too big. Just make sure there is room for the case to freely release the boolit, lead swages easily. I assume you will be starting low and working up anyways. The larger boolit might add a few hundred Psi.

I have to size my 9mm down for both my PPQ and Glock to .356 due to not passing plunk test. .357 may work, but the .358 size won't. YMMV

.358 is not too big unless the chamber will not allow a loaded round to fit. I shoot .358 in my 9mm and it loves them.

Did you rule out oal? So if I resize to .358 will the rounds not pass my case gauge?

cast, coat, then size to 358.
works fine.

who cares about the case gauge, we are making boolits for guns, the barrel and chamber is the only case gauge I own.

make a couple of dummy rounds at .358 and make sure they feed well. [there's your gauge]
after that it's all about load development.

runfiverun has got it right, but I use a case gauge to spot check after function is correct.

What dubber and r5r said. . .

read the sticky on "setting up a new 9mm for boolits" - may save you some
time.

Good info in that thread whether it's a 25 acp or a 45 acp and everything in between.
