I am looking for some advice on shipping a gun part to Canada. The part is a safety for a 1911 pistol that I sold on ebay. Is there any laws that would make it against the law to do so? If this is in the wrong area feel free to move it. Thanks for your advise on this issue.

How many Customs Inspectors would recognize it as safety? Ship it; worse case scenario, they send it back to you.

The only thing you can't ship is recievers and barrels, or parts worth over $500.00 It used to be 100$ but was recently changed. These are American laws by the way, not Canadian.

It might be best to use a non alarming description to not disturb the Rhodes scholars at the American post office. I once sent a boolit mould to Canada and called it a "tool." another time I sent a sectioned .303 case to Steve Redgewell and called it "brass tubing." Both went without incident. Somebody on this board had trouble at the PO because of describing a bullet mould exactly.

Sounds like a "Metal Lever" - should be no problem. :-D

I am thinking "Machine part" would be about right.

Reciever parts are fine don't try to send a completely assembled reciever or the reciever itself.
No Bullets, Brass, Scopes, Clips and a few more that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Moulds, Dies sights are also Okay.

Bullets and brass are now OK again, just got some from Sinclairs. Apparently there has been some lobying done by US suppliers, they have a big mail order market in Canada because of the high prices here. Midway still will not ship to individuals here though.

I know Buffalo Arms wont ship Bullets, Brass is allowed from a firm that has the right ATF paper work.
