I have a three cavity SAECO mold with the #402 on it. It is obviously a 357 something but I would like to know what. I tried the SAECO website but it was no help. Can anyone tell me what the number means?

If memory serves, SAECO was purchased by Lyman; I could be wrong but I think that's accurate. You might try contacting them.

I don't think the #402 has any special meaning to be decoded by it's number...It's just a designation. you'll have to find a saeco chart that shows all the calliber, weight, profiles, ect.
An example i could give is if you go the to ballisticast website and look at their mold charts it gives a #xxx designation than the info for that mold, without the chart the designation is useless.

I find a 420 but not a 402.

The 420 is 44 cal.

SAECO is owned by Redding.

Odd those descriptive numbers for SAECO.

I have a # 385 four cavity mold and it's for the 38 Special/357 Magnum. It casts a virtual duplicate of the military M41 RN projectile.

There is an older Saeco mold chart out there from the 90's that has some different numbers, but I can't find it now. I used it to figure out a #371 Saeco mold.

Here are some pictures of the mold in question. I bought the reloading gear of my friend from his daughter after he had passed away. He had some years earlier built a .357 MAX on an old rolling block action. The work was poorly donel. The chamber had been poorly cut so he abounded the project. I knew he had sold the rifle but had no idea he still had cases and molds for it. He usually gave everything away with the rifle. As I said I bought the gear much later. I have other SAECO molds and I must confess their numbering system is confusing to say the least. I appreciate everyone's help. On this sight, you need but to ask. I just tried to post the pictures but the sight will not let me. When I try, a notice pops up saying this page cannot be accessed. I am able to post them everywhere else and I was able to do it here until now. More problems and my air conditioner just gave up the ghost. Oh well. Thanks again.
