I aquired a couple 100 45 Schofield brass cheap enough that I figured I could run it in the Ross-chester 92' and get about the same throttle as the Colts in the BH and have some plinking loads just to stay current. I may load some w/BP as well just for the thrill.
I have a 45-200 SWC RCBS,452-252 SWC and 452-255 RNFP. Load data seems to lean toward 6gr of Unique w/230-250s. All of mine drop heavy 205,262,265 resectively.
I'm thinking about 1 of the cowboy moulds and there is an ACP in my future . So based on the wealth here would you go 165/185 rnfp or the 225-230 rnfp or something else ? I don't need a heavier bullet the 252 will plow ribs and 18+'' of hog out of the 92' at 50yd and 3 ft at 5yd. With the above I want to stay w/the RNFP . As far as use goes I don't expect over 400 lbs of black/Ca brown bear ,casual paper slaying and the occasional misguided rabbit. To hunt big game the Schofeild is too short and the Colts don't make the rifle cut in Nv. If I were actually expecting an encouter I would defer to the established hunting loads or Personal Defense ammo.

I think thats about all ..... the 92' is 16'' and Darrs Lube has worked well so far.

I use Saeco #954 230-grain FN and 4.5 grains of Bullseye, which approximates the velocity of the original service load.

Will a '92 action digest shorter than designed for rounds easily? I know my 94AE in .357 hiccups often enough to be noticeable when I run .38 Specials through it.

Any way you can get a few of each weight to try prior to purchasing a mold?

I use the NOE 250 grain (230gr HP in a solid) in my S&W Mdl3 (2000). Very accurate boolit but I have no idea if it would function in your rifle.

I know the rifle wouldn't feed a full wad cutter profile Colts ,but I think I can fidget w/OALs for success in feeding. I had a Marlin 38/357 that would feed lengths down to 9x23 in 38 cases. I should throw 3-4 of the 45-200s in cases and try them as dummies. It fed the slighty long RBH Colts loads w/the 452-252 very well w/its .360+- meplat/nose . I expect the design has the 454 Casuall feed parts in it so that may account for feeding the long seated loads.

Robert ,
I have some assorted boolit/bullets floating around. I can always beg a few in the boolit exchange.

I have been suprised at the rifle as it has a couple of clear bbl flaws and doesn't lead and hits w/hunting accuracy enough for 100 yd hogs. (not that I would use it that far.)

I did the worst combination to check the feed and while not perfect and w/o bugs it is doable. The Star Line brass has a .523-5 rim while the Colts are .510 so I'll have to knock a little off the rims . They are just enough to big for the face to scrape a little.

The feed was other wise ok w/ the 45 200 SWC seated at the bottom of the top lube groove. Which takes that 1 out of the running for the 92' . Seated to its top band it would hang going in and need the levergun ''jiggle/wiggle'' to go. Seated w/the full top groove out the feed was good from the magizine .

The 92' and BH make a nice couple other than having to full length shared brass from the rifle to the BH. The hunt is on for a Colt clone cylinder too for the Pietta or a trade and cash. Not that there is an issue w/a 44 B&C 73' Colts w/a 451 bbl.
