Drought is over, at least for my neighborhood. Sitting at the house stranded by high water this morning, typical Texas weather. Radio says we've had 9 inches of rain locally and I-35 is shut down north and south of me, plenty of high water before I get to the highway so I'll be a little late for work today. ;-)
Over an inch of water standing on my little spot on the prairie, been a few years since I've seen that. I suspect Lake Ray Bob is coming up pretty fast at the moment.

I was wondering about you. It was a bit interesting getting around this morning. Ground is so hard I think it ponded and ran off instead of soaking in.

Send some our way, still pretty dry in SW Texas, though it is raining this morning!

I have a few contacts in Breckenridge, Seymour, Wichita Falls, etc. This drought may very well kill off a few towns and seriously impacted more than a few farmers and ranchers. Today's beef prices are a direct result of the drought.

I can see the road, Midway order has been placed, guess I better head for work. Yes, I have a long-legged 4X4 pickup.

My well in Llano is still dry: drought is NOT over for me until the creeks run and the wells fill back up.

crockett has been getting soaked since about 4am this morning, and we are still getting a good bit dumped on us. We needed it and a few more weeks of it :p

Not over by a long shot, but every bit of moisture helps. I had 1.9 inches Tuesday afternoon in NE Bexar County, forecast looks good for tonight and tomorrow. Another couple inches would be very welcome.

I recommend capturing some of that water for future watering when it STOPS raining.

More rain last night and today. Muh-hair grass is already thigh deep again in the yard, but maybe I will actually be able to get more fishing in this year since there is going to be actual water in the Neches.

It has been several years since I have seen water in the north end of Lake Lewisville. It was really rushing and a cop was running off a couple of guys trying to get their kayaks in a flooded creek. Probably kept them from becoming tonight's news.

We had a good dump the last couple of days. Lord knows we need it before the whole dang state burns down.

Wow, can't believe this is Texas in July. Temps in the 60's this morning, may set a record low tomorrow morning. Even funnier is the led solar lights submerged in the above pic are working just fine tonight! I think that I'll be needing another can of Off!

SOWELA (southwest Louisiana) had 3 to 9, depending on location, since Thur nigh. High temps only reached mid 80s. Only 70 this morning and the typical afternoon chance of more rain. That front was a welcome phenomena.

Hope you boys in TX get some slow long soaks down there Lord knows ya'll need it.
all the best
Mike

Folks west and northwest of me are really hurting. They got a few inches and are grateful but truly need several more inches.

We have a houseful of company at the house and it was cold enough this morning that they did not notice that the AC was broke. I got the parts and fixed it by noon and still not 70 degrees. It has rained every day, but the kids play in the pool, lake and on the "big" waterslide I set up and don't pay attention to the good rains. My tanks may all fill up yet. God has blessed Texas.
