I was talking with John today about the price for the 314-120 group buy molds. I suggested they offer a 2 cavity mold with some of the features of the 6 cavity design, IE it would fit the 6 cavity handles, would have 2 point sprue plate hold down, and dowel pins.

John asked me what I did not like about the present 2 cavity design, I of course said it was a brilliant design, and that people that are very carefull can cast many thousands of bullets from one, the downside being a ham handed feller can ruin one in a day, and I made the point that most of us are somewhat in the middle of those two people. I pointed out there was a real void in between the 17.00 Lee 2 cavity (excellant buy for the $$) and more robust designs that cost a LOT more money.

If you think this is a great Idea, tell Lee so in an email and or a letter, I would never think this would replace the $17.00 1-2 cavity molds, but if it came in at say $25.00 it would offer another choice for situations where one wouldnt want or need a 6 cavity, and the 6 cavity handles are much more robust too. Plus the added benefit of 2 point sprue plate hold down.

What I think they should change is the allignment pins for the 6 cavity need to go on the 2 cavity. I don't think the sprue plate needs to be locked down for the 2 cav. It definatly wouldn't hurt though. And it doesn't need the extra handle with cam for opening. Just a regular thick Aluminum sprue plate would be great.

email sent.

They might could offer it for similar money if they don't include the handles and just have it like the 6 cavity ones.

All great ideas.........I for one have always fought with 1 point retained sprue plates so my prejudice comes thru on that issue.

I would like to see a 3 cavity mold built like the 6 cavity....and pay in the the in the $30.00 range....with the molds made sligthly over sized ...or sized to use wheel wts......mic

Email sent to Lee this AM. I like the idea of separate blocks to use with the 6 cav handles.

Ditto. I've not bought any of the 6 cavity specials you folks have so generously coordinated as I simply think they're too heavy. I have a few three cavity Saeco moulds that I love and would jump on the band wagon for some good designs in a three cavity Lee if it were a quality mould. FWIW...

Have you actually handled a Lee 6 cavity ?? I have a saeco 4 cavity 9mm mold and saeco handles and the Lee 6 cavity assembly is WAYYY lighter. I have not used a saeco 3 cavity tho.

BillI agree on the weight of the four cavity Saeco. I have one in .358, that is MUCH heavier than the six cavity molds. Gives you a hernia, and makes your hemerroids bulge out if you use it too long.

I do like Nrut's idea, a 3-holer for BIG rifles on the 6-cavity pattern. It would be a nice adaptation to the 45-70 boolit idea we've been tossing around.

What I noticed last night when I was casting from a 1 cavity 54cal R.E.A.L. mold is that the sprue plate never clears the mold cavity no matter how wide you swing it. They just need to use larger blocks and change the design of the sprue plate to fix this.
