I keep seeing folks mention posts in "The PIT". I am kinda lost about what the heck they are talkin about.

I think the first rule about "The Pit" is you don't talk about "The Pit"

It is at the very bottom of the main index page.

Political and Religious topics.

Humor and off topic

Cliffs notes: catch all for things that should not be posted in other forums.

It is not visible to you now because you have not been a member long eough. Same requirements as having full access to the S&S area.

It is the humor/ off topic and politics area. If I am not mistaken you have to be a member for so many days and possibly have a certain number of posts.

You are not missing much.

The header for the Pit:

No swearing, porn, assaults, or whining. No exceptions. If you are offended, stay out. Same rule applies as S&S 30 days and 25 posts before access is allowed. Mind your manners or you will lose the Privilege to post in the Pit.

You have been warned.

I'm not so quick to throw out the Off-topic/humor forum with Politics/Religion. It's a good place to ask advice if you're having trouble with your air conditioner, '73 Ford transmission, etc.. Lots of folks on here that know lots of stuff; or just to post or read humorous, non-gun stuff. I haven't noticed blood-pressure problems there at all.

The politics/religion sub-forum I don't visit so much anymore, myself. I'm ok with both politics and religion, but I get them elsewhere.

Gotcha. I'm sure there's a plenty that us non-moderators don't see. :) For the record, though, I was referring only to the Humor/off topic part of the pit. I'm well aware of the turmoil of the politics/religion part.

There's a guy at work that likes to bring up politics and religion. We are friends but we do not have the same views. I've learned now to just avoid it. Not that I don't have my beliefs and opinions, but we simply are not going to change each others minds so there's no point in fussing about it. We just don't need another layer of stress at work, and now we work together just fine. Kinda' like here. :)

The mental image of something that would cause someone to spew partially masticated solid food through their nasal passages would scare them?

Like the Nuns taught us almost 70 years ago,"Take small bites and chew 25 times before attempting to swallow."

Old age only reinforces their teachings.

No teeth left so you must gum it to death before attempting to swallow your mush.:bigsmyl2:

If you can survive going into the CHAT ROOM with the fellows for a couple hours then you shouldn't have to worry about THE PIT.

The pit is like driving by a car wreck on the highway-you can't help but look. I've been trying to avoid it, hard as it may be, because every time I go there it feels like I lost another 5 points off my IQ. Just can't afford that.
