View Full Version : STAR RATINGS...
It seems that our ratings as to the number of posts we have made starts at zero (0) again? Bummer...I worked so darn hard to get to be a Boolit Master--even if I only was on the lower end of that rating...BCB

Shucks, even if it did say "Boolit Master" I usually feel more like a newbie. :)
Well Yea, me too! But notice I did say on the lower end of the scale...BCB

45Nut has'em.
Several other BB's have similar. On the Practical Machinist board you start as plastic, go through a whole bunch of stuff like hot rolled, 303 stainless until you reach diamond. In addition readers can give you 'Stars' which I guess mean how much they like your answers or something.
I really don't believe it means much, (arbitrary ratings) but sometimes it's rather comical. On the home shop gunsmithing board I think the highest is 'God of Gunsmithing' or some such thing. I've seen a couple with titles like that and then they ask a question like, "What is a centerdrill used for?" Yeah right, God of Gunsmithing!

I know what you mean! I don't post very often, just when I have a question or can answer a question. Took me quite a while to get 40+ posts on the last board. Oh well, guess I'll just have to try HARDER!!

I never quite understood the fact that folks are rated on quantity rather than quality. I don't consider the ratings much, some of the best tips I have seen came from so called newbies.

I dont know, I bet some folks would get ofended. True we could put some rookies misgivings in their place. I have been set straight myself a time or ten . But always in a teaching manner. I was always gratefull for the Info. I think little good would come of ratings, but someone who is a regular most likely has advice worth hearing out..
IMHO.........Buck
