Found this in the bottom of an old box and have no idea what it went to.

Looks like a tool for the M14. The little rod the swings out from the middle screws onto the cleaning rod section. There should a multi sided hole on one end to remove the gas plug.

gmsharps is correct. It should be accompanied by a small OD green cloth bag with about 4-5 cleaning rod sections and a slotted tip. The end of the tool with the little blade is used to remove the extractor of an M-14 bolt, therefore allowing the bolt to be completely disassembled. If you use that function be careful to retain the spring and other parts. Not something I'd recommend doing in the field!
