View Full Version : Rockethub 80% paperweight deals

Anyone here actually purchase a paperweight and receive it? I have been waiting for about 3 months for some to be shipped by a company here in Reno. Of course only after I complain about a refund do I get a response like"oh we have 50 here now we can ship today". After days of them posting lowers in stock or showing stuff ship out. I know these deals can go bad if you research it, and I probably would not be so upset if the company did not post photos of hundreds of lowers, start a second internet funding campaign before the first is finished(big no no),start selling tons of other stuff, all the while I think dont you have some cnc'ing to be doing?.
Today I ask for a refund, he does not give them, yet he said he was happy to resell my lowers to someone else! I said if you have my lowers, ship them!

I avoided the Rockethub deal and got my paperweights elsewhere. Probably paid more, but I did actually receive them.

It might be worth the 30-35 mile round trip to hit them up FTF. I've considered getting 3 of those....1 to boogger up, 1to get right ,1 to make the madness worth it........I mean do exactly perfect.

I get the impression a FTF is not kosher with them. Thats what I did I ordered four, one spare, one to do perfect, one to bugger, and one to work ha.

I funded several. I did receive my order from Precision and Sierra Nevada Arms. I did not receive my order from Art at Pebble peak "did get a refund after he threw a tantrum," or Feality Arms. The lowers from SN were out of spec, but I did try them and they still work fine. Complained to him, and he sent out additional lowers. Those were still out of spec. So, I got 8 out of spec lowers for 100$. But, they still work fine so they will work well as gifts to family for the price. The lower "10/22" I got from Precision was perfect. In fact I just made another order with CB arms which took over their operations. I did see a post about them on facebook that indicated Precision employees were being laid off by CB arms to be able to fulfill the rockethub orders.

If I had it to do over again I would stay away. I think I got lucky by most accounts.

Still haven't received my precision arms 80% or jig. That'll be a 1yr wait next month. All I get now is an auto-reply e-mail about my group shipping starting on dates that passed months ago. May have to contact cb arms.

Nope. Ordered, and didn't receive. Will be a 1-year wait this August. Ridiculous.

This brings up an issue that I keep seeing more and more of in the firearms community. Whether it be gunsmiths, stock makers, action makers, barrel makers, etc.

Long wait time with innacurate delivery dates. Nothing sucks more than being told "Yah, send the money and it'll be ready in 3 weeks" only to be cooling your heels longer than that.

If a company has no idea when something will be ready, why can't they just say " We have no idea"?

I've been waiting for my Fealty Arms lower for about a year and a half now. Kinda sucks as my friend who has the milling machine I was going to use is moving soon. I didn't want to have to do it on a drill press. I asked for a refund using their e-mail but have received no response. It pissed me off that before they sent ANY start-up lowers they sold a bunch of others as they "needed to to stay in business". And now I can buy 80% lowers from Brownells as they are in stock. Jigs too.

If you are ever up this way you are more than welcome to use mine. It is a small X2 square column mill, but it does have DRO's on it now. My father in law is going to mill his out on it. Much better than the drill press. Been there, done that, got a mill...

Well I had not waited as long as some of you , but the symptoms are the same, and yes I do feel I helped this guy get started, as I am sure a bunch of other people did as well, he sure likes to make Tshirts and what not, and I know his Rockethub made him 400% more than they wanted, bought a new CNC, was able to afford a ton of complete uppers to go along with his phantom lowers. He was able to buy a new cnc and everything yet no lowers, even though he posts picts of stacks of lowers all over facebook, and even today saying he will sell my lowers if I ask for my money back!! That means he will make my money and some other guys on the same lowers! how is that right?
why not head me off at the pass and ship them. I dont get it

If you are near Reno I would tell him you are coming down to the shop. Dont tell him when, and I bet you will get your lowers. There was another fellow that said when he came down Jason just gave him the lowers to save on the shipping cost.

On 80% lowers I will only deal with Tactical Machine. Both times that I ordered lowers I received them in a week. I have built 4 ar's and all were in mil specs.

You guys think YOUR wait is bad? Those that follow the full auto game know about the SHRIKE. It is a belt fed AR15 upper that you could mount on an M16 lower. Try an EIGHT YEAR wait! They got enough $2000 deposits THEN started the R&D and manufacturing. I guess I was smart enough to not put down a deposit on something that didn't even exist. The owner of the company didn't return calls, emails, letters from lawyers, etc. He DID give the deposits back to those that asked for it, but that was just like a Ponzi scheme. He eventually came through after 8 YEARS!

That is just what he said: "You can go ahead and do a charge back", but I took that as a dare rather than him saying I would be happy to refund you and sell your product to another individual. Right now I am waiting for 50 AR 80%er's to get checked for quality control.

it'll be 1 year on the 18th, i received a jig in december and a "shipping notice" for the lower in april from precision arms. Thats it, nothing else no lower, no email or communication, nothing. But i did get an e-mail from CB arms for 20% off my next order for being such a good customer, except i've never ordered anything from them. Its getting ridiculous.

Last year I ordered from Pebble Peak via rocket hub but after 90 days of dead silence and another 60 days of repeated unanswered emails I sent an email asking for an immediate credit to my card or I would dispute the charges with credit card company, got the refund in a couple of days. But IIRC, the refund was not from pebble peak directly but from Rockethub. Instead I bought one locally that was billet aluminium and had someone else finish the machine work since I'm not a machinist. It was more money but I'm not unhappy with the decision.

What was that, a BBB complaint? Every business is registered with the secretary of state. You can look up the business, and the info on who's who.
https://www.nvsilverflume.gov/businessSearch

There's a lot of info here. You could also poke around the site and see what qualifies for a complaint. Curing a complaint, or any gov thing is a pain in the a** and really wastes time.

BBB can be a great tool especially with wells fargo or boa :)

What I am starting to get upset about is, that this guy in Reno basically got to start a business, and in actuality I am one of his first investors as were all the first Rockethub buyers, he was able to secure a few tons of aluminum blocks and a new cnc machine. That was about 6 months ago, unfortunately for me my income is such that I cannot have money tied up, I either need the product or a refund but close to 500.00 in limbo, I cant do that.
And, of course no response from him from Wednesday when he was supposed to check my lowers and ship.

I wouldn't be broadcasting this info all over the 'net. What you describe is good for 10 years in Club Fed and a $150K fine.

If the credit card processor gets enough charge backs, they will put the seller out of business.

I abbreviated my response regarding what you quite correctly mention, as my point was about Rockethub, not legally finishing a 80% receiver. But for full disclosure it was completed as required to be 100% legal.

I saw one of those units with a slidefire stock, and was grinnin ear to ear. I would jump all over one of those units if I had the chance. I just want the unit to use the linked belts, I can mill my own upper, and lower to make it fit.

Well I thought I'd give you guys an update, no lowers, no communication, nothing.
I have to say I am disgusted with Battle Born Tactics in Reno Nv, the only tactics they are capable of is ripping off other small business owners. If any one considers purchasing a lower from this guy Jacob DeCrimer I would suggest against it and to buy a paperweight from a reputable retailer.

we are talking about unfinished AR lowers, they are not firearms so we call them paperweights
