I've been looking for a .36 cal. underhammer. Do you know if anyone is currently making them? Thanks, Steve

nope, numrich and the feller in washington state both have quit makeing them. I think I got the last one from the feller in washington state. ( a 50. cal buggy rifle) a fine little rifle btw. you can find them on the auction sites every once and a while, but for a cheap rifle when first made , they are pretty expensive now and parts are almost non-existant.

I've been wanting a 36 for quite awhile and can't explain why. I have been trying to convince myself I need one but I already have about 15 M/L's now in 4 rifle calibers and 2 pistol calibers including 3 32 cal. I even bid on a 36 cal maxi mould a few weeks ago hoping to get it cheap and almost did but couldn't convice myself to go higher on a caliber I don't even own but the biggest reason I didn't was because someone else might have needed it worse than me and I didn't want to keep driving up the price. Good luck shooting your new Maxi!

FWIW, I had a Seneca in .36 caliber for a few years and shot mostly round balls over a charge of Pyrodex with very nice results.
I did try some swaged 148 gr. hollow base wadcutters for the .38 Special in it and they also shot well with black powder, not so good with Pyrodex though.

Deer Creek products in Waldron In. still sells the parts, except for the bbls.
I just spoke to them and they sold their bbl making machinery to a guy in Fla. who produces bbls for the underhammers.

They don't have a web-site.
They can be reached at: 765-525-6181
Fax: 765-525-9595

Hope this helps.
