How do you cast for 7km per second?

I dont know, but I want one!!!!

Using hydrogen gas and powered by a shotgun shell, it achieves a velocity of 7 km/s.

Both of these, I got.... I just need to borrow me some technology! ;):redneck:

If I read it right, all you need is a shotgun shell, some hydrogen gas, and a really fancy air gun to get those speeds.

Hey guys, I got this new gun and it is leading the bore something terrible. I am running it at reduced loads at 20,000 fps. Do you think it is the alloy or the lube?????

Sound to me to most likely be gas cutting. Try using one of them there gas checks rated to 50,000 fps. That should take care of it. [smilie=l:

You switch over to Ben's Red and that should take care of your problem.

Powdercoating will let you get up to 25K fps and maintain 2 MOA or less. ;)

Are you using the Titanium check? If your using those cheaper aluminum checks it may actually be aluminum deposits in your bore.

such systems are capable of forcing liquid hydrogen into a metallic state.

:holysheep

That's not something you see everyday!

So to answer the original question: you don't have to cast. The gun makes its own metallic hydrogen projectile!

Oh great a new tool for hitmen. After the shot the bullet just dissipates. I don't know if chest waders will do. I think I'll bring a raft.

I got plenty of liquid hydrogen, but they are contaminated with oxygen and some other trace mineral.
Wanna buy some? oh and I also got a bridge on sale.. cheap..

What about the equal and opposite reaction thing. I'm trying to imagine a 4-500 gr projectile leaving the muzzle of a shoulder fired rifle at 25k fps. Sounds very painful.

Bet the recoil would be, let's say SHARP?

Wonder if it can be had in a pistol?

I ran some figures through a recoil calculator and with a 10lb gun the recoil energy would be 4200 ft/lb enough to kill you I think.

There ya go. Someone tries to inject logic into an otherwise interesting discussion.

I am undaunted! I will install a slip on, super recoil reducing recoil pad.

When it's fired using helium instead of hydrogen it just lets out a high pitched squeel instead of a loud boom.;)

NO BODY is talking about accuracy with these "GUNS"! I'm not interested in how fast I can MISS a target.

Just don't shoot it from the bench. If you're standing you can sway with the recoil ;)

With that kind of shock wave a close pass would do.

You west coast folks better get yours now, it's only a matter of time before California bans hydrogen due to it's impact on the environment.

Has to have a bi-pod as the barrel looks like it will be nose heavy.

California is an impact on the environment.

Look at an OLD map of the Colorado River.

Yes it was an area that supported many fishing villages and much wildlife "UNTIL".

Yes there WERE many canyons full of wildlife "UNTIL"

And the list of the ways Kalifornia has destroyed the environment can go on and on.

Now they want us to believe there is no ulterior motive in banning lead boolits to save a bird that should have vanished when the last of the mastodons died out.

The next thing you know they will want the U S Gov to pay for pipelines to suck the great lakes dry.

What a great coyote round that would be! At 23,000fps it would have a point blank range of approximately 3 1/2 miles given a 4" kill zone (depending on BC)
I wonder if Leupold makes a 45-125x220 tactical scope?

fastfire,

I don't think the lathe I have access to is big enough to thread a barrel for that can! I bet that one cost almost as much as a "can" on gunbroker.
