Hi all. I found my way here from Glock Talk and I have to say this is a fascinating and helpful forum. I currently load 40, 45, and 5.56 but have never cast my own. However, I am currently acquiring my smelting setup and I picked up 106 lbs of wheel weights from various tire shops on my lunch hour today :-D so I'm sure you'll be seeing questions from me in no time.

Thanks,
Scott

Welcome Scott:

106 lbs of lead at lunch time well spent. You have found your way to a place were knowledge is wealth and King and the Kings here are more then willing to share wealth. The friends here are more then blood relitives. That for sure is not found easily in life, but be forwarned a adiction will surly take place. Your wife, girlfriend or both will not fare well with this new obcession.

Welcome to the board and don't be fearful of asking question's or fearfull of casting you will find both board and casting quite rewarding.
Don

Nope, just a Wings fan. I've been to Detroit a couple of times for tattoos, however :-D

Thanks for the links, I really appreciate it! For my smelting setup, I picked up the 6 quart dutch oven at Harbor Freight tonight, and found 2 used 12 slot steel loaf pans at the local restaurant supply. Each loaf measures 2.5" x 4" x 1.5" I've already got a turkey fryer used for homebrewing with several propane tanks and lots of my kids broken crayons. I believe I'm just missing a ladle and a skimmer.

Also, wear heavy gloves when you're sorting the weights. I have found almost new (read very sharp) single edge razor blades mixed in with weights. This has happened twice so now I use a small 'claw' type cultivator to spread the weights out on the floor before I start handling them.

Yeppers, for PowderPacker. Razor baldes are abundant in buckets of WWs, along with other things that can hurt you. Be careful.

Thanks for the heads up there, I did buy a set of welders gloves at Harbor Freight when I got my smelting pot. I'll definitely wear them when sorting the weights.
