Not sure if this is quite the right place to post this.

I have been reloading fir about a year, and I want to start casitng my own bullets. I am currently reading through the Lyman Cast Bullets Handbook and hope to find a mentor Close to South Bend, IN. Any offers would be greatly appreciated.

Dan,

That there is a right smart idea you have. I'm in south east South Dakota or I'd pony up.

Welcome to the forum. I hope it benefits you at least as much as it has me.

Forgot to mention. For starters at least, I'll be casting mostly .44's and .45's of some sort. I've still yet to settle on a boolit for my .45/.410 with a .458 groove diameter, but that's another story. Also, at some time I would like to try cast in my Mosin-Nagant (.3114-ish groove). Once again, thanks in advance.

Welcome to our happy home.

Pull up your favorite rocker, keep reading stickies while watching for the 3-4 members that have said at one time or other that they live in your area.

I in mid Michigan (just west of Lansing) and will help if no one closer offers! I find helping a new caster is a learning experience for me as well and just plain FUN. Clint

I'm fairly close by "30 miles" and reload and have for 50+ years. Do you belong to any clubs in the area?

I just had Hardline Industries draw up a .460" 500gr bullet for my .458 SOCOM, so they may be an option for your 458 bullets.

I'd highly recommend spending the time/money to build/buy a PID controller for your lead pot. It'll eliminate a lot of problems you'll get with the wide temp swings an uncontrolled pot gives.

Thanks for all the replies and the offers.

TJA, those 500 grainers sound like real thumpers. However, they are probably a bit much for me to shoot in a revolver. Plus, my data only goes up to 360 grains. Fortunately, someone I met on the AR forrum from Texas has cast me some 323 grain Goulds to try.
