Reckon anyone is doing any wildcats based on the .500 case? I was lettin the ole mind wander today and got to thinking; Wonder what a .500 S&W necked down to .358 would be like?

Maybe be I think too much.

I think it would be like a very short .348/.358. Might be a lot of fun to play with in an Encore or some thing like that.

The neat thing about a rimmed cartridge is you can get the bugs worked out in a single shot, and find out if the cartridge will do what you envisioned; before having to make it work through a repeating action.

.40/50 sounds fun, maybe something along the lines of 10mm Ultra Magnum.

Should make a great single shot or rifle round!

check cartridges of the world. J.D. Jones did some work with the 500S&W. When I first saw the 460 and 500 S&Ws I thought that they would work great in a lever action. Is there a current lever action that is big enough and strong enough to convert?

Browning BLR will handle it.

If anyone sees a 35 caliber wildcat based on this, please post a link. I think it'd be an AWESOME single shot rifle cartridge.
