I am looking for a simple data base computer program for cataloging my gun collection. I want to store information, ie
Model #, Serial #, manufacturer, caliber etc plus have the ability to import digital photos.

I relaized that I need to do this for insurance purposes.

Anybody got any suggestions.

Thanks,

Centex Bill

Just use excel from MS Office
Unless you have 100s of guns or are running a business (FFL)
setting up an access database is overkill IMHO
Backup the spreadsheet(s) to a flash drive or burn to CD for archive purposes

I use forum member Tom Myer's Precision Firearms Records (http://www.tmtpages.com/printarms.htm). Tom's TMT Enterprises module based program can integrate with his Precision Ballistics and Records, and Box Label programs.

His PB&R software beats every thing else I've tried. With the pressure trace work I've been doing with my cast bullets, his is the only program that I've used that makes heads or tails out of the volume of different loads I'm shooting. For instance, my 444T, G, and 1895MR has over a hundred different loads per rifle. No problem finding what I'm looking for and analyzing the target data across the loads. Tom is also a pleasure to work with...

The summary report generated by the program was all that my insurance company needed to cover my firearms... excellent details.

Here is a clip of how I record a lot of data that might get lost otherwise...

The image in the background is from a chamber cast from my 336SC that Mr. Myers has generated for me. That image is from another software product that he is developing. I've paid him for the images in the hope that it will help support his work on completing this program. These images in turn are stored in the appropriate pages of the firearms software.

I think his products are first rate and worth the price.

Tom Myers software products are quite reasonable in price, give good value, and represent, what I believe, to be the best software "out there" for what we do.

When I went to Tom's web page to copy the link for the post above, started looking at his Precision Mold List as I have so many molds now (not counting inventory) that I need to do something to keep from loosing notes, numbers, etc... Anyway, all the same neat features as his other products.
