Fantastic rifle, IF THE BOLT WAS CLEANED PROPERLY !!! Love them. The biggest downfall is the bolt design. Every session where the rifle is fired, the bolt must be completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned and preserved. Tolerances allow corrosive gas to enter the bolt & deposit there. Severe corrosion results. Wish, when made, they had used chromed parts to slow this process. I never let mine go over night without a full bolt cleaning. Currently mine is dialed in for the use of T/C Shock Waves. Great bullet. One of the gun rags, back when the rifle came out, did an article, in which the author and his Dad used a pair of these guns to roundball a few woodchucks, and further reports on conicals. You got a good one there. Keep it clean!! Frequently I give it a thorough cleaning, oil it up and set it aside, and then clean it again a week later. Good luck.

Do you just take the firing pin out of the bolt or do you also take the firing pin down. I think you could just clean it with hot water and a tooth brush and dry it then re-lube it.

I just use the hot soapy water/toothbrush on mine, then rinse in hot water. Dry and then oil. Friend of mine gave me another as it would't work. He didn't clean the bolt at all. That was a pain to get working again.

They are very accurate

would it help to have the bolt sent to some one to hard chrome everything inside and out? just a thought.

I have several local friends who have them and converted to primer adapter. They shoot BH209 and 2ffg Goex, with some hot loads, but they shoot super tight groups from 100-200 yds and kill deer with them out there! I have found most of them shoot plain old maxi ball slugs really well also, with a veg wad under them even better.

I had an affair with one last year. Pretty accurate rifle to be honest. I monkeyed around with it, using sabots and a 255 cast semi wadcutter 452 boolit. Overall, a pretty nice shooter. It is just not for my taste.
I've been meaning to put it up for sale, I've just been lazy.

It looks like they ended production of these in 2004 - I didn't know there was a 700 ML.

Get a Hunter bolt nose kit and 209 breech plug from http://smokelessmz.com/index.html and it becomes a great rifle.

Good point ghh3rd. I think the Remington recall is for Rem 700 and Model 7s made between May1, 2006 through April 9, 2014. This is for rifles with X-Mark Pro triggers (I am quoting from the recall letter I received from Remington). A feature to look for is the grooved trigger verses a smooth trigger face. The grooved trigger face is not in the recall, while the smooth trigger face IS in the recall. Ofcourse if in doubt visit xmprecall.remington.com, or call 1-800-243-9700 (prompt #3 then prompt #1) Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm E.D.T. Hope this helps.

I use the T/C wonder lube on the bolt and it works great. Also use the CCI #11 magnum precussion caps. I am told that they are just as hot a fire as the 209 shotgun primers.

I got mine at a police weapons confiscation auction sale back around 2000. It had a 3x9 Redfield scope and a sling. Got it home to clean it up a bit and then discovered it was still LOADED! Don`t know how many people cocked it and clicked the trigger during the examination part of the show. It had a saboted JHP bullet and 100 gr. of black powder. Since them I have converted it to using 209 shotshell primers. I removed the sights for a cleaner barrel. It is scary accurate with power belt bullets and 90 gr. black powder.Robert

You might want to think about wall space for trophies. This is a buddy of mine he shoots my paper patched 500 S&W bullets.

Same for me but mine had Tasco scope and it was last year. Still had finger print powder on it. A month later I bought one at a gun show. It was loaded also.
