THERE WEB PAGE STATES: Why you should use Rim Rock Bullets. Our cast lead bullets are cast from virgin lead alloyed with just the right amount of tin and antimony. Ordered in 60 lb bars, 60,000 lbs at a time. By ordering this much lead at once we can make consistently accurate cast lead bullets. Weight and sizing and lubing go a long way to help you make consistent ammunition.
I just order some 38-55 3 LG BHN15 so with the above statement what is the alloy mix. I hope the mix is not a hard mix .

You ordered 1000 60 lb bars?!!! That should last you for a day or two!!!

It sounds like the boolits you ordered have a BHN of 15, about the same as wheel weights. According to rimrock, the alloy has 'just the right amount of tin and antimony'

Is that the answer you are looking for? Your actual question is not very clear

Buffalo Bore uses their boolits. 15 BHN is pretty hard for a cowboy boolit but it is difficult to ship soft boolits. So commercial boolits are harder.

I'm sure they still use 2/6/92 alloy [giving the standard 15 bhn] I know Mike did when he owned the outfit.
anyway that's the standard commercial casters hard-cast [hardball/magnum] alloy, about the only one that doesn't use it is Lazercast.
the molds they use on their casting machines are cut to that 2/6 alloy too.

if it's the 265 gr rnfp with a slight bevel on the base.
you won't get 1700 fps from it.
you'll be more in the 1350- [maybe]1400 fps window
[if you use a filler of some sort to protect the base of the boolit]

I did have a chance to shoot them today
30.0 grains of IMR 3031 shot excellent .My friend did bring his lead tester to the range seem the rimrock bullets were a BHN of 12 on the scale at .380 dia:

I like to ask why some bullets with a BHN of 10 or 12 I can scratch a line in them with my finger nail others with the same BHN is a little harder takes more then a finger nail to scratch them
I just got in a batch of 38-55 from RimRock bullet company 240 FN casted at a BHN 15
I loaded a few with IMR 3031 they shot excellent not as good a my sarco mould # 738
in 255 grains BHN 10 and 12 (yep these are soft lead ) no gas checks with 34.5 IMR 3031 and no barrel leading FPS high 1700
The Rimrock bullets looked real hard but yesterday a good friend has a lead harness tester and the Rimrock boolet came in at 12 from the readings on the lead tester.
I wonder if they add a different mix to make the surface of the bullet a little harder.
