Was checking on commercial liability insurance for my class 6 ammo shop I'm opening and talking with the rep, he asked if I would be doing any casting. I said I had thought about it and he said he could not insure me if I did it on premises. I guess I can do it at home and load them there, but just wanted to pass along the info.

It's a shame insurance companies can dictate our lives like that. The law requires us to buy insurance, and the insurance companies take full advantage of it.

So what were the reasons that it was not allowed?

Sounds like reason enough to look elsewhere for insurance.

I would love to hear the reasoning behind that also.

Bureaucratic Hog Wash. They try to tell us how to avoid everything in life, except taxes.
It's the results of giving them our freedom in exchange for so called safety.

I wondered if it was a site issue. In other words, could you set up a home based casting business and buy from your other business if it was off site?

Smelting, casting & loading powder in the same place at the same time, not good. Not hazmat but fire code. Separate facilities.
