I'm not talking reduced to sub sonic type thing. What if you load a 30/06 to 308 or 300 Savage levels? We have all heard the "load density" scenario that 100%density is most accurate. I would like to down load a 30/06 to light 308 levels, but the smaller powder charge in the bigger case, powder position and accuracy is the concern.

I'm shooting j-words here, sorry.

Almost all of our cast rifle loads can be considered "reduced" compared to factory Jacketed loadings, with exceptions being BPCR loads. You can follow Ed Harris' "The Load" with 16 gr of 2400 or use cast load data and see where it gets you. H4895 is one rifle powder that can be safely loaded down to 60% load density. There may be others

A charge of 30 grs. Of RL7 in the .308 with 150-grain .30-30 bullets makes an accurate and effective low rscoil hunting load which approximates .30-30 ballistics.
