First cleaning

The title is a little deceiving, this isn't the first cleaning but it is the first cleaning some of these weapons have seen in a LONG time. I thought I would go to a range tomorrow that I've never been to(just to check it out) and decided to clean them before I went. My Mosin hasn't been cleaned in 7 years or better, I couldn't believe the black gunk that came out of it. The swab just came out black, then kind of a brownish color and after an hour and a half, four different solvents 2 plastic ram tips braking, 2 rods bending cleaning the same barrel I finally had to stop. The barrel looks good, better then it did anyway. Ready for tomorrow.

Lots of work but tomorrow it will all pay off. I know my Mosins haven't seen much fireing time now that i started on a Mauser binge. Good luck tomorrow!!!!!

Try using "Kroil" on that M N.

Like you my son SCRUBBED his and always found more black junk.

Now he said it is nice and new looking.

Others here have reported the same results.
